Podcast launch!! Why I started a podcast and what you’ll hear when you listen

For a long time (like more than a year) a little voice has been tugging at me, pulling at my heart strings and even nagging me to start a podcast, a place where we can really dive deep into subjects that really matter. So I finally did it! Mint Arrow Messages launches today and I could not be MORE EXCITED to dive into this new territory, and not just for one more thing to do, but because I feel like this is maybe THE most important thing for me to do with my brand and business right now, to share messages of hope and inspiration and kindness and understanding and LIGHT to the world. Let's dig in a little more about what this podcast is all about . . .

Nearly six years ago when I started my blog, I also started a series on instagram called #mintarrowmeaningfulmondays where I post quotations and thoughts on topics that are meaningful to me, ranging from family to faith to challenges to inspiration or uplifting ideas or things I've learned from other people, something I've read, something I listened to, something that helped me, you get the idea.

That series has been one of the most popular things I've ever done. And although the business of finding deals on shoes and bags and strollers is the vehicle that's allowed us to grow our reach and influence, I've always felt like the REAL reason behind all of this was to share goodness and to try to be a light in the world of so much darkness.

For a long time now I've been asking myself, “how can I do MORE of what matters with this online influence that God has entrusted me with?” And the podcast was one of the most obvious answers. I knew for certain that I didn't have all the knowledge and light and understanding that needs to be shared, but if I interview a whole lot of other people who DO know more than I know about topics that everyone could use more knowledge and understanding and compassion about, then maybe we'd be onto something good. Something meaningful. Something that could (cliche as it sounds) actually change the world for better.

Am I going to stop finding deals or putting cute outfits together? No, because I still LOVE that part of my job, and it's what puts bread on the table for my family and a few other families of the people who work for us.

But I believe that this gut feeling of me needing to do this podcast REGARDLESS of whether it will ever build up our business or help provide for my family is something God is pushing me to do. So I'm doing it.

Our very first episode of Mint Arrow Messages was going to be my journey with postpartum depression and how that led to me starting this blog, but we pushed it to be episode two because of the recent events in our family where Neil's brother was killed unexpectedly just over a month ago. He and I both felt so strongly that Dave had a message he wanted shared and that one of the things we could do to honor his death would be to spread a message of positivity, love and goodness and that by doing this, the dark circumstances surrounding his death would be outshined by all of the LOVE and light that's come out of honoring the man he was and what he would want all of us to remember. It felt so healing and therapeutic to work really hard on this episode with Neil and to have this be our very first episode. It was so fitting for the launch of Mint Arrow Messages to share Dave's life message.

I'm thrilled to announce that we're launching TWO episodes for you guys today, both the story of triumph over tragedy (remembering Dave) and my story of overcoming postpartum depression and a few things that might help other moms out there experiencing the same thing.
