Outdoor layering faves for NYC – or anywhere this chilly season!

Neil and I recently flew out to New York to do some business and take in all the fall vibes with the pretty colored leaves in Central Park – it's no where near fall where we live so this was such a treat!! This time of year it gets chilly pretty quick in NYC, so we stocked up on a few new items from Backcountry to keep us nice and cozy for this little trip we planned.

I really wanted to find some things that were really cute and cozy, but also comfortable enough to be walking around in Central Park and the rest of the city. Because let's be real – one of the best things about New York is that you can literally eat whatever you want (there's sooooo much yummy food to try) and not worry about it, because there's just SO much walking involved. We ate and walked our way through the city, and Backcountry delivered with comfort, so it was a win-win situation. If you're planning a fun trip to the city this season or you're looking for some comfortable, cozy and CUTE layers for your fall/winter adventures, this post is for you! Here are all of our favorite new fall arrivals from Backcountry:

Teddy Coat

If I had to choose my very favorite find from the new fall arrivals at Backcountry, THIS green teddy coat would 100% be it. It has this extremely comfortable teddy coat material on the inside and a waterproof lining on the outside – so you're prepared for any type of chilly weather!

Sweater

I would say my next top favorite fall item I bought is this beautiful orange fall sweater! Like, WOW. The material is just super, super, suuuuper soft and has a very flattering fit. I love how it's fitted around the waist with balloon sleeves, creating a very feminine and sophisticated look. It's just a really beautiful cropped sweater option that's ultra cozy and would look darling with leggings or high-waisted jeans.

Leggings

While on our trip, I wore the pretty orange sweater with these Girlfriend Collective leggings – one of my most favorite leggings of all time. I discovered them when I was pregnant with Harry and I was absolutely sold from then on. Girlfriend Collective just makes really well-made and well-fitted clothing! Imagine you got all your girlfriends together and came up with how to make one of the most perfect pairs of leggingsthese are those leggings!!

Belt Bag

I had never bought anything from Cotopaxi in the past, and they're a Utah company – my home state! I got this new fanny pack/belt bag for our trip and it was PERFECT. It's not ginormous, but generously sized enough to fit my wallet, my big phone, and any little personal items I needed on the go. And something I LOVE about their belt bag that I've never seen in any other belt bag is it has two zipper pouches PLUS a little sleeve where you can quickly slide your phone or whatever in and out for easy, fast access! Loved this feature while on our New York trip because I was able to quickly pull my phone out to take pictures as we were out exploring. It's sliiightly bigger than all my other belt bags, and fits very comfortably! Life-saving in the city.

Chacos Boots

I discovered these boots last year during the holidays and they're by far, hands down THE most comfortable, well-fitting, most supportive chelsea boots I've ever worn. When I think of Chacos, my initial thought is you're going to put on those strappy sandals and go hike the narrows or something. But these Chaco Chelsea boots are comfortable, warm, have realllly incredible arch support and perfect for a nice long walk through Central Park – or anywhere! I put a LOT of miles on these on our NY trip and they still look brand new.

If you're in need of some super supportive AND cute shoes for some long walks on a trip or to run around the mall this holiday season, these will be your best friend, and don't forget the socks! Right now you can get 20% off select socks!!

Neil's fall picks

I picked out a really nice new shacket for Neil that he really likes! Super flattering fit and is a great layering staple piece for chillier weather. He wore it with these tan pants that I thought looked really cute on him!! And THESE BOOTS. Solid, really nice-looking, and Neil was stoked because he said he felt like they made him a little taller because of the wedged-soles on the bottom of them. I thought they looked perfect on him and would pair great with really any of his outfits this fall season! And to top it all off, he wore this really highly-rated coat too which was cozy, warm and a perfect layering piece for after the sun went down and the temps dropped a bit.

Why I love Backcountry

There's something just a little more fun about shopping for all the fall things, and I loved scouring Backcountry for all the best NEW things. I'm seriously so happy with everything we purchased and they were just what we were looking for for our trip to New York City!

I ordered a few additional items that didn't make the list once I tried them on, because of comfort or style, but I love how Backcountry makes returns soooo easy and they're just super accommodating. So if you're unsure about anything you're purchasing but just want to try it out, it's so nice to know that they make the process easy-peasy!
