dress the bump without the frump: pieces you can wear during and after pregnancy

when you have a super darling and amazingly talented blogger friend who is the cutest prego ever, it’s kind of a great idea to collaborate with her on a blog post where you get to dress up like twinners, right?! see, i knew you’d agree with me πŸ˜‰

my friend cara brook from maskcara – who by the way is THE most talented and relatable and down-to-earth beauty blogger of all time ever – is expecting her 2nd baby (a little boy!) and so when she was in town a few weeks ago, i talked her into doing a little collab for dressing the bump without the frump! which is, in so many words, how to dress cute while pregnant without buying only maternity clothes! because who wants to spend a bazillion dollars while pregnant on a whole new wardrobe of clothing you can’t wear once you’re done feeling like your twelve times your normal size?

i’m showcasing two of the looks we picked out together, and she’s got the other two on her blog PLUS a fun giveaway at the end! so scroll all the way down to the end to make sure you don’t miss it!

first up is this caslon shirred v-neck shirt. it comes in like every color of the rainbow AND it’s on sale 40% off right now! iΒ lived in these when i was prego. no lie. they are so comfy and grow with your belly, but they’re also versatile enough to wear after pregnancy and look totally normal. they’re long enough to cover your entire belly even at Β 40 weeks (which feels like 400 weeks) or however long your baby cooks in there haha. if i were prego right now (i’m not!) but if i were i’d buy at least 3 at that sale price. seriously.

and up next, i LOVE the kimono trend that’s so hot right now. kimono dresses are popping up everywhere and are so great because their blousy, loose fit will work before or after pregnancy and especially right after when you need some roomy forgiveness in whatever you’re wearing. trust me on this one! and this like mynded print caftan midi dressΒ is one of the cutest and most perfect dresses i’ve seen in this category!

and since cara makes my favorite blush EVER (really, i promise! i use it daily) AND my clip ins that i wore here are from laced hair, we are giving away a blush bouquet from maskcara, and a $100 credit to laced hair extensions to ONE lucky winner! enter below and don’t forget to go to cara’s blog maskcara to see the rest of our looks from dressing your bump without the frump!

Which size top are you and your friend wearing? I can’t figure out whether to get the small or medium because I’m 25 weeks pregnant:) thanks! I love your posts!

Brittny:

And are they really stretchy or just cotton? Thanks:)

Reply
Corrine:

hey britny! we are both wearing mediums of everything in both her post and mine. and yes this shirt is so stretchy! the fabric itself is stretchy plus the “shirred” part of the shirt is the ruching on the sides that makes it stretch all the way over your belly. i’ll post a pic later today on my instagram of me in this shirt the day i delivered πŸ˜‰

Thanks! Found your blog through Maskcara. And I just ordered 2 of the tee shirts. I’m 29 weeks prego and feeling like I need more clothing options. But I can’t spend the money on a whole new wardrobe. Perfect, thanks!!

I love this idea! But mostly I love that I’m now aware of your blog, it’s right up my alley. I’m obsessed with finding great deals and sales! And we have the same name (spelled differently) so that must mean we’re kindred spirits πŸ˜‰

I can’t believe this! I just said to my husband LAST NIGHT that I would love to try laced hair extensions. And Maskcara’s HAC pack has been on my must have list forever! I was waiting to get the blush when I can order the medium. Your girls’ blogs are a daily read of mine, thanks for all you your expertise.

Love! Do you mind me asking how tall you are? And do you normally wear a medium? I’m just wondering if you just ordered your normal size and it fit throughout your pregnancy? I love the idea of being able to wear it during and after pregnancy!
