Drink up and give with Coco-Cola!

You guys know my love for Diet Coke runs deep. A cold Diet Coke pairs well with just about everything: breakfast, tacos, female empowerment. Yes, female empowerment! A few months ago I heard about the Coca-Cola Company’s project 5by20. The project is Coca-Cola’s global commitment to enable the economic empowerment of 5 million female entrepreneurs by 2020. As a female entrepreneur and mom of two little girls this is an initiative I’m all about.

Coca-Cola knows that women invest a huge part of their income on the health and education of their children and their local economies-which has a huge economic impact on the world! The focus of the project is addressing the most common barriers female entrepreneurs face. The initiative also offers women access to business skills, training courses, financial services, and connections with peers and mentors. There is also the added benefit of the confidence that comes from building a successful business!

These women make items like handbags, jewelry, and holiday ornaments from repurposed beverage packaging-items that would normally be discarded as waste so this is also friendly for the planet! Sales of these items directly benefit the 5by20 artisans, their families and their communities.

How fun is this bracelet made from beverage ring pulls? It’s handmade by a group of artisans in the Philippines using locally sourced, recycled materials. Love that red and silver combo, and I’m suddenly super thirsty for a Diet Coke!

These roses made from beverage labels by a women’s co-op in Mexico are so cute! We went on a surf trip to Mexico about a month ago with our girls and the change of economic circumstance that you see just by crossing the border is startling. We’re blessed with so much just by living in the United States, and I love that by purchasing these items I’m helping to share those blessings with women and their families around the world.

These giraffes. So adorable and so super earth friendly-made of 100% recycled materials by artisans in Kenya!

My favorite piece is this little bottle cap clutch. My girls are ALWAYS asking me to carry a purse and this is the perfect small size for either of them to put a few treasures in before we go on an adventure. I love that it’s handmade by a collective in Turkey and therefore one of a kind!
