Styling tips! Transitioning your Winter wardrobe to Spring style

When we moved to California almost 3 years ago, I thought I was done with Winter! Summer year round, forever and ever in Southern CA. Ha! This year we've had an epic amount of rain and chilly days, and winter and I aren't great friends. So I'm itching for warmer days and a springy switch in my wardrobe. And I'm excited to show you how I've done it with the help of Stitch Fix, a genius brand started by Harvard Business School grad Katrina Lake, that takes all the guess work out of what your closet needs for a good refresh.

I've heard friends talk about Stitch Fix here and there but always kind of dismissed it, saying to myself, “thanks but I like to shop for myself!” Well I finally gave it a try this month and it was actually so much more helpful than I ever imagined! I filled out a super simple form online that just gave the basics of what my style is like, my height and weight, sizes, and I even got to add comments like what I specifically don't like and wouldn't wear. I was relieved that they included a comment section, so I could clarify that I don't wear things that don't cover my shoulders, my skirts have to go to my knees, nothing too sheer, etc. I also LOVED finding out that a real person, not just a computer, would be picking my clothes for me.

I was so thrilled with some of the pieces they sent to me!! This denim jacket was unbelievably soft and stretchy and cozy, and these jeans had the perfect amount of stretch and hit right where I like them, a comfortable mid-rise.

I love a good denim jacket. They're so classic! Just easy to pair with jeans or a skirt or throw over a summery dress. Some denim jackets can feel really heavy but this one is surprisingly lightweight. I especially love denim jackets over dresses because it still gives you a waistline, unlike some other jackets and sweaters that will hit you around  your bum or mid thigh, which can look a little frumpy (on me at least!).

These little sandals were such a fun pop of color!

And I loved how they tied into the logo on my shirt. Three quarter length shirts are perfect for that weird time when it's still just a little too chilly for short sleeves, but you know it's gonna warm up by the afternoon and you don't want to be stuck in a super hot long sleeve!

I call this look my “Walk to Remember” outfit. Have you seen that movie lately?! So so good. I love it when he gives her the pink sweater! That's what I thought of when I saw this sweater. It was the perfect light layer over this super classic white button-down. I actually love wearing longer tops with high waisted jeans. But this top could just as easily have been tucked into jeans or even a skirt. A good white button-down is such a great staple for any wardrobe! You could easily shed the layer of sweater to lighten things up if the sun really came out, and you could tie the sweater around your waist and roll up the sleeves.

How cute are these little shoes that Stitch Fix sent me?!! I mentioned that I love anything with a bow in my Stitch Fix style description, so I'm pretty sure that's why they chose these for me 🙂

These jeans had just the perfect amount of distressing too!! Another thing I love to incorporate into a spring transitional style, a good pair of distressed jeans. When it's frigid outside you want everything covered up as much as possible for a bundled up look, but when the sun starts peeking out in Spring that's when I reach for distressed denim. It's hard to find the perfect amount – just enough but not too much – and these were so great! Again, I loved that my stylist followed my guidelines of no big holes above my knees.

I really loved my experience with Stitch Fix, about 12 times more than I ever thought I could or would! Even if you're a girl like me who loves shopping (and especially if you're not!) I really think you'd just love Stitch Fix. They just take the guesswork out of what you need and help you find just the perfect pieces you probably wouldn't have found or thought of yourself. Coming from a girl who spends half her life looking for the cutest things on the internet, I was blown away by how cute and perfect these items were for me without me having to do an ounce of looking.

Thanks so much Stitch Fix and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post and helping me freshen up my Spring wardrobe this year!
