My newest hair tricks under $10!

Today I’ve partnered with Sally Beauty to talk to you guys about some of my new favorite hair styling products that are under $10. Yup. You read that right. That’s like the price of a salad and a soda! I tried out a whole bunch of Sally hair products and really put them to the test on my least favorite haircare tasks and expected to only like one or two but you know what I found? Way more than one or two. And now it’s time for you to meet them, too.

But first let’s start with my biggest hair complaints. When I agreed to partner with Sally Beauty on this post, they asked me, “Corrine, what is your biggest problem with your hair?” I think they were expecting me to say “damaged” or “ultra fine” or “over colored,” right? I mean, those are the most common hair complaints I hear from my friends. But you know what I told them?

I HATE BLOW DRYING MY HAIR. I do, I hate it! It’s the task that never goes away! And it just takes so freaking long. Like I swear the weeds grow from seed to full size in my backyard every time I sit down to blow dry my hair.

So they laughed and said they had some pretty good tricks for me there. Then I told them my second problem, but you’ll have to keep reading to find out about that one!

Sally Beauty recommended several blow drying products for me to test out and my two very favorites ended up being their generic value products volumizing root lifter, and the one n’ only argan oil! These two products together work like a dream! The volumizing root lifter gives your hair some serious drama while that argan oil smooths everything out and makes your hair softer than butter. But without the grease. And get this . . .

They both cost less than 10 bucks!

Here they are in action! Just spritz a little of that root lifter all around the roots of your hair, and a dime-size dollop of the argan oil to protect your hair from dryer heat damage really does the trick.

And now for the REAL trick to a quicker blow dry = the super solano red and black professional hair dryer. It honestly did dry my hair way faster than most other dryers I’ve used, and I loved that it was such a lightweight dryer!

See how this magic hair dryer made me suddenly love drying my hair?!

HA. Just kidding. See me sitting down in the next frame because I am so impatient with drying my hair!!! But really, the super solano dryer did dry my hair faster than most dryers I’ve tried and my hair felt really healthy after!

Now for the second haircare task I dislike the most – curling my hair. It’s not actually that I hate the task of curling my hair, it’s that I hate how hard it is to get my curls to STAY! I presented this to the ever-talented Sally Beauty team and they suggested two things that I think are serious game changers:

One n’ Only  Island Essentials Awapuhi Finishing Hair Spray + Ion Titanium Platinum Pro curling iron! The combination of these two was their recipe for success, and I’m always game for a new recipe.

I was shocked by how much I loved Sally’s Ion Titanium curling iron! It has temperature settings (which I turned up ALL the way, but you could leave it on a lower setting for frail or fine hair!) and it shuts off automatically after 60 minutes for safety! Which I seriously need, because I’m always leaving my curling iron plugged in!!

I honestly like Sally’s curling iron way more than my much more expensive competitor curling iron. I don’t know what it is but it just worked better.

See the “smoke” in that second photo? That’s a GOOD thing! That means the curling iron is burning the product, NOT your hair, when you’re curling. I sprayed each strip of hair with the awapuhi finishing hair spray before I put it into the curling iron, which really makes a difference if you have a hard time getting your hair to hold curl!

And here’s the final after! Lots of root volume, TONS of curl, and it held up longer than any curling I’ve done without “setting” the curls after. Which is great if you have an extra hour to sit around with clips in your hair but who even has time for that?!

Is your hair super thick? I HATE blow drying my hair too and my hair is super thick. I am trying to grow my hair out long and then I normally cut it after a little bit cause I hate blow drying it.

SUPER thick! I feel your pain girl! Haha.

This is probably such a dumb question but what do you do when you are done curling to give it that “full” look? Do you brush it? That’s the part I struggle with the most

I teased just a little around the crown of my head and then very gently ran my fingers through the curls to loosen them a bit!

Do you have a recommendation for a flat iron at Sally’s?

I don’t have one for Sally’s I’m sorry!

You have such beautiful and healthy looking hair! Any tips on what’s helped your hair grow? I know everyone is different but I love hearing tips and tricks!

Oh thanks Hollie! I honestly have seen amazing results with taking doTERRA’s lifelong vitality supplements (I talk more about that here!) with my hair growth!

I just bought almost all of these products because your recommendations are always so spot-on for me. I found a coupon code for an additional $5 off, too! (444872 if anyone else wants to try!) Thanks for this post. I’m excited to try these new things!

Brynn at The Domestic Dietitian:

You have such gorgeous hair, it’s nice to see a post about the products you like and especially since they aren’t expensive!

I’m going to try the Oil and Volume Root Boost for sure! My hair is pretty thick and holds onto water so it takes DAYS (a slight exaggeration) to blow dry.

Have you used other high end blow dryers before this one and seen a difference?

I have and I really like this one!! Since I got it I’ve been using it over the other high-end dryers I own 🙂

I love your shirt! Where is it from?
